Buckeyes and Pioneers Matchup to be Broadcasted on NBC Sports

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – The NBC Sports Network, formerly Versus, has announced that it will broadcast the second annual Moe’s Southwest Classic on Sunday, Feb. 19, in Jacksonville, Fla.

Played at EverBank Field, home of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars, two Eastern College Athletic Conference Lacrosse League members will square off in the first game of the double-header as the No. 5 Denver Pioneers will take on the Ohio State Buckeyes at 2 p.m.  Jacksonville University will play the United States Naval Academy in the second game of the day.

A three-person television talent team will spearhead coverage with Bret Harris doing play-by-play, Evan Washburn providing color analysis and Amber Theo-Haris as a sideline reporter.

The Pioneers, who swept the pre-season league honors earlier this week, enter the season as the No. 5 team in the nation according to the pre-season USILA and Nike/Inside Lacrosse polls. Ohio State placed two athletes on the pre-season team, including senior and reigning defensive player of the year Matt Kawamoto.

The Buckeyes (1-0) opened their season on Thursday with an 11-6 win over Detroit.  Junior Logan Schuss scored four goals, finishing the win with six points.  Denver’s first game of the season is the Moe’s Southwest Classic matchup with Ohio State, which is an ECAC contest.
