BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland
men’s lacrosse program had a former Greyhound inducted into a
US Lacrosse Chapter Hall of Fame this year. On Saturday, Jan. 21,
Paul Cantabene was inducted into the Greater Baltimore Chapter Hall
of Fame.
Cantabene, a 1993 graduate of Loyola, was inducted into the
Rochester, N.Y., chapter of the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2003
and was honored with the President's Medal by Stevenson in 2010.
Regarded as one of the greatest faceoff specialists of all time,
Cantabene was a second-team All-America selection at midfield as a
senior, while he was also named Team MVP and selected to the
North-South All-Star game. After graduation, Cantabene embarked on
a 13-year professional career on the indoor, outdoor and club
level. A three-time NLL All-Star and 1999 All-Star Game MVP,
Cantabene has built Stevenson University into one of the elite
programs in Division III. In seven seasons as the head coach, the
Loyola alumnus has a 97-30 record.
