Five ECAC Squads in Top 30

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.--The NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship Selection Committee has announced the first RPI rankings for the 2011 season, released on Tuesday. The first set of rankings include games played through Sunday, and the next RPI poll rolls out next week.

Eastern College Athletic Conference regular-season champion Denver paces five ECAC schools in the Top 30. The Pioneers, who are one of the nation's best road teams this season, are 8th at 10-2 overall, followed by Loyola Maryland (8-3) at No. 15, Hobart (5-8) and Ohio State (7-7) are 25th and 26, respectively, and Fairfield (7-6) rounds out 30th.

The RPI (Ratings Percentage Index) gives a little more insight into the postseason picture as the season enters into the late stages and league championships start to get decided.

The inaugural ECAC Championship Tournament will be held Thursday, May 5, and Saturday, May 7 at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium on the University of Denver campus. The champion earns the ECAC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
