Loyola's Finnerty Earns USILA Scholar All-America Honors
BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland attacker Collin
Finnerty was named a Scholar All-American by the United States
Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association on Wednesday, one day after he
was named to play in the North-South All-Star Game.
FInnerty, who graduated this month with his bachelor of arts
degree in communications, led the Greyhounds in scoring this season
and helped them advance to the NCAA Championships.
“Collin was a tremendous leader for us, on and off the
field,” Loyola Head Coach Charley Toomey said. “He was
an outstanding player who also was a dedicated student, and
it’s a great honor to earn Scholar All-America
recognition.”
A team co-captain as a senior, the Garden City, N.Y., native
scored 24 goals and assisted on 12 others for a team-high 36
points.
He earned All-ECAC First Team honors this year and wrapped up his
Greyhounds career with 64 goals and 26 assists for 90 points over
the course of the last three seasons.
Finnerty, along with fellow Loyola attacker Cooper MacDonnell will
play for the South team on Friday, May 28, at the Lax World/USILA
North-South All-Star Game at Goucher College in Towson, Md.
To be nominated for the USILA Scholar All-America honors,
student-athletes must be of senior standing and have a grade-point
average of at least 3.0.
