Loyola's Finnerty and MacDonnell Named To North-South Game
BALTIMORE – Two Loyola University Maryland attackers were
named to the Lax World/USILA North-South All-Star Game, the United
States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association announced today.
Collin Finnerty and Cooper MacDonnell will represent the
Greyhounds in the game on Friday, May 28. The contest will be
played at Goucher College in Towson, Md.
Finnerty earned top honors at the Loyola Athletic Awards Banquet
last month when he was named the 2010 recipient of the John R.
Mohler ’50 Award, given annually to the top senior male
student-athlete who excels in the classroom and the athletic
arena.
He was an All-ECAC First Team honoree after leading the Greyhounds
in goals (24) and total points (36). Finnerty had six multi-goal
games during the course of 2009 with a career-high five coming at
Bellarmine.
MacDonnell picked up ECAC Offensive Player of the Year honors
following the season despite missing three games early due to a
shoulder injury. He finished the year with 22 goals and 28 points
to close his career with 77 and 96, respectively.
MacDonnell scored a career-best six goals in the season-opener at
Navy, including the game-winner in overtime. He closed his career
by scoring at least one point in the final 28 games he played for
Loyola, a span of two-plus seasons.
