Bellarmine Men's Lacrosse Announces Fall Schedule
LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Bellarmine University lacrosse team has
announced three events for their 2010 fall season.
The Knights will play an intrasquad game on Oct. 9 at 9 a.m.
at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium as well as host an alumni
game and continue their "Battle of the Sexes" with the University
of Louisville women's lacrosse team.
The alumni game will be played on Friday, Oct. 15 at
Thurman-Hutchins Park on River Road, at 7 p.m. Former Bellarmine
players will suit up against the current team for bragging rights
for the next year.
The following day, Bellarmine will play the University of
Louisville women’s lacrosse team on Oct. 16 in the Battle of
the Sexes Benefit Scrimmage. The annual event will take place at
Louisville’s lacrosse stadium at noon. Admission is free of
charge, but donations will be accepted at the gate. Half of the
donations will go to the Jack McGetrick Fund and the other will go
to the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation which helps aid research for
pediatric brain tumors.
Coming off a 9-6 record last year, Coach Jack McGetrick will
have a lot of pieces to replace, especially on
offense. Three of Knights' top scorers from last year's
team were selected in the National Lacrosse League draft.
Austin
Bright (Delaware, Ohio, Olentangy) will lead the
returnees on offense that ranked fourth in Eastern College Athletic
Conference in goals scored.
Defensively, Bellarmine returns Ross
Doan (Dublin, Ohio, Coffman) and Drew
Soeder (Hudson, Ohio, Hudson) along with goalie Dillon
Ward (Orangeville, ON, The Hill Academy), who earned the
Player of the Year award playing in the Ontario Junior Lacrosse
League.
