Air Force's Flick, Denver's Dickenson, and Hobart's Curtin Named Candidate for Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award

Air Force's Ridge Flick, University of Denver Charley Dickenson, and Hobart College's Kevin Curtin have been named three of the 20 candidates for the men's lacrosse division of the 2010 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - classroom, character, community and competition.

Flick, a native of Plano, Texas and 2010 team captain, returns this season as the Falcons' top scorer after leading the team in total points (38) and assists (22) in 2009. A second-team All-GWLL selection last season, Flick ranked tied for second in the league and 16th in the nation in assists per game (1.57). He scored at least one point in 13 of 14 games, tallying a career-best five points in league wins over Quinnipiac, Ohio State and Denver.

Dickenson was chosen as a member of the 2009 Preseason All-ECAC Team in Denver's first year as a member of the conference. In 2009, he led the Pioneers with 36 points on 14 goals and 22 assists and his 1.57 assists per game average ranked him 16th in the nation. His 22 assists for the season ranked him sixth on DU's all-time single-season list. He also had a nine-game consecutive games streak with at least one assist during the 2009 season. In his three seasons with the Pioneers, Dickenson has played in 47 games, tallying 27 goals and 49 assists, recording a total of 76 points. He has also picked up 35 ground balls for the Pioneers.

Dickenson will graduate in June of 2010 with a degree in business real estate, which he completed in four years while also competing at the Division I level in men's lacrosse. His current GPA is 3.32, and he hopes to work in commercial real estate as a retail and office broker. Throughout his three seasons at DU, Charley has participated with the DU men's lacrosse team in several community projects, including Denver CityLax, 9News' 9Cares Colorado Shares Food Drive, Project Homeless Connect and more. For the 2008 9Cares Colorado Shares Food Drive, Charley helped raise over 220 tons of food and $111,300 in donations.

Lowe's, an official Corporate Partner of the NCAA, will announce the 2010 Senior CLASS Award winner at the NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore May 29-31. The 20 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one finalist who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of classroom, character, community and competition.

"The lacrosse candidates represent a diverse cross-section of universities and a wide array of academic courses of study," said Tom Lamb, Lowe's senior vice president of marketing. "But the common denominator is a passion for their sport and for finishing their careers as students and athletes at the top."

This marks the fourth year for the men's lacrosse division of the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. Cornell University midfielder Max Seibald received the award for the 2009 season and Syracuse University attackman Mike Leveille took home the 2008 honor. In 2007, Cornell goalkeeper Matt McMonagle won the inaugural men's lacrosse award.
