Cape Cod, MA. - Hobart goalie Max
Silberlicht was named the ECAC Lacrosse League Co-Defensive
Performer of the Week by the conference office this afternoon. The
junior led the Statesmen to a 7-2 victory over then 20th-ranked
Bucknell on Saturday.
Silberlicht matched his season-high with 14 saves as the Statesmen
defense stifled the Bison. The two goals scored are the fewest
Hobart has allowed since defeating Colgate 18-2 in 1992.
Silberlicht is 4-0 this season and leads the nation in save
percentage (.703) and goals against average (4.75).
Classmate Kevin
Curtin earned a spot on the ECAC's Weekly Honor roll for his
part in the win over the Herd. With the game tied at 2 late in the
third quarter, he scored three straight goals in less than six
minutes to put the Statesmen up 5-2 with 10:49 remaining in the
contest. Curtin is second on the team with 10 points (6g, 4a) this
season.
Hobart is 4-0 for the first time since 2005. For the Statesmen to
improve to 5-0 for the first time since 1998, they'll have to snap
a 13-game losing streak to Georgetown. Hobart will open conference
play against the Hoyas in Geneva on March 14 at 1 p.m. The
Statesmen came agonizingly close to topping Georgetown last season,
falling 13-12 in overtime in Washington, while the four meetings
from 2004 to 2007 were each decided by just two goals.
