Silberlicht named to IL preseason All-America team

Hobart senior goalie Max Silberlicht is one of seven goalies
named to the 2010 Inside Lacrosse/Face-Off Yearbook
Preseason All-America Teams. A starter in each of the past three
seasons, he was listed among the magazine's honorable mentions.
Silberlicht played all but 6 minutes and 27 seconds in the cage for
Hobart in 2009, compiling 174 saves, a 7-7 record, a .613 save
percentage, and a 7.91 goals against average (GAA). He was third in
the ECAC Lacrosse League and fifth in the nation in save percentage
and second in the conference and 10th in the nation in GAA.
Silberlicht's GAA broke his own Hobart Division I season record
(8.05 in 2008), while his save percentage was second in Hobart
Division I history behind the .633 Fred Pawlikowski '98 posted in
1996.
Silberlicht matched his career-high with 18 saves against UMass
last season. He held the Minutemen to a season-low seven goals.
Silberlicht also limited Binghamton (4) and Bucknell (2) to their
lowest scoring game of the season.
Inexplicably omitted from last season's All-ECAC and All-America
teams, Silberlicht enters his senior season with 375 saves, a .580
save percentage, an 8.77 GAA, and a 15-16 record. Among Hobart's
Division I goalies, he ranks fourth in career saves (17 behind No.
3 Dan Valente '05), second in career save percentage (.020 shy of
Pawlikowski's mark), first in GAA (0.74 better than Valente), and
second in wins (1 behind Mike Borsz '03).
Silberlicht is the first Statesman to be named a preseason
All-American since Daryl Veltman '08 received honorable mention
prior to the 2008 season.
