Hobart's Evans tabbed North/South All-Star

Hobart College graduate Ricky Evans will don his Statesmen
helmet one final time when he represents his alma mater in the 68th
U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association North/South Game at
Harvard Stadium on Fri., May 22.
A three-year starter on close defense, Evans played in 50 games
over the past four seasons, collecting 91 ground balls. He scooped
up a career-high 33 GBs this season and recorded a single game-high
seven ground balls against Fairfield in 2008.
With Evans in the lineup this spring, the Statesmen allowed just
110 goals for a goals against average of 7.86, ranking 10th in the
nation in scoring defense. The only Hobart squad to post better
numbers since the program jumped to Division I in 1995 also
included Evans. In 2008, the Statesmen allowed one fewer goal for a
7.79 GAA. That unit was 15th in the nation in scoring defense.
Evans was a three-time Statesmen Scholar and earned a spot on the
2008 ECAC All-Academic team. He was awarded a bachelor's degree in
religious studies on Sun., May 17.
Since 1940, 103 Hobart student-athletes have competed in the
North/South Game, including 19 Division I Statesmen.
