Cape Cod, MA - Fairfield University men's lacrosse player Charlie Cipriano (Williston Park, N.Y.) was named the ECAC Lacrosse League Rookie of the Week on Monday. It marks his second weekly award in three weeks at the collegiate level.
Cipriano, a graduate of Herricks School, made seven saves in backstopping the Stags ECAC opening 5-4 win over Rutgers on Saturday. He posted a .636 save percentage in the game, as he earned his second win of the season. He also recorded a ground ball in the victory.
Cipriano was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week after the Stags season opening win, when he picked up the victory in his first career start. He made 14 saves in that contest, which is still his season-high.
Brent Adams (Norwalk, Conn.) was named to the league's weekly honor roll as well.
The Stags are off to a 2-1 start on the year, with a 1-0 mark in conference play. Fairfield will host Colgate on Saturday at 3 p.m.
