COLUMBUS, Ohio - Last month, the Ohio State men's lacrosse team took time out of their schedule to honor those who have done so much for this country. The Buckeyes assisted in the "WWII Veteran Honor Flight Reunion," a service that flies veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit their memorials.
The Buckeyes helped over 400 veterans, some disabled or terminally ill, to and from the event thanking them for their service to our country. The reunion proved to be a rewarding and eye-opening experience for the Buckeyes.
"The WWII Honor Flight Reunion was a great opportunity for our team to honor those veterans for what they did for all of us," senior captain Scott Foreman said. "We were able to talk to the veterans and learn about their time in the military. It was a very humbling experience and we were all glad to be a part of the reunion."
Honor Flight Columbus honors and celebrates World War II veterans' service by escorting them to Washington, D.C. to create an unforgettable experience at the memorials dedicated in honor of their service and sacrifice. The veterans are provided this experience at no charge as a token of gratitude and respect. The one day trips to the nation's capitol occur during April - November as funds permit. Honor Flight Columbus is part of the Honor Flight Network.
