Hobart Sports Information

GENEVA, N.Y.-Hobart College attackman Daryl Veltman (Salisbury School/Coquitlam, B.C.) was drafted by the San Francisco Dragons in the fourth round of the 2008 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft. The Statesmen's Division I goals and points record-holder was taken with the 39th overall pick.

The co-winner of the 2008 Babe Kraus Award, presented to Hobart's outstanding senior athlete, is just the 16th Statesman all-time-and the first to do so playing exclusively in Division I-to score 100 career goals. Veltman finished his collegiate career with 109 goals and 53 assists for 162 points, as well as 107 ground balls. He ranks 15th on Hobart's all-time lists for both career goals and points.

The three-time All-ECAC selection earned first team honors this year after scoring a team-high 26 goals, despite missing the first three games of the season. Veltman ranked 15th in the nation in goals per game (2.36) and 21st in points per game (3.36).

Veltman joins former Statesman Tim Booth '03 on the Dragons' roster. A midfielder, Booth leads San Francisco with six goals through two games this season.

Veltman is just the third Statesmen to be drafted in the 8-year-old MLL Collegiate Draft. Booth was the first taken with the second pick in the fifth round by the Rochester Rattlers in 2003, while Brian Joy '04 was taken with the same pick by the Rattlers the following year. Several other former Statesmen have been drafted in the MLL's Supplemental Draft.
