Hobart's Daryl Veltman earns All-America recognition

GENEVA, N.Y. - Hobart College senior Daryl Veltman (Salisbury
School/Coquitlam, B.C.) was tabbed an honorable mention
All-American by the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Coaches
Association over the Memorial Day weekend. One of the top scoring
attackmen in the nation, he ranked 15th in the country in goals per
game (2.36) and 21st in points per game (3.36).
Veltman led the Statesmen in goals scored in each of his four
seasons on campus, including 26 tallies this season. He recorded a
season-high six points at Georgetown, burning the Hoyas for four
goals and two assists. Veltman posted a season-high five goals in
an 8-6 win over Penn State, while also collecting a season-high
matching four ground balls. He finished the season second on the
team with 11 assists and 37 points and scooped up 23 ground
balls.
A first team All-ECAC selection, Veltman led the conference in
goals per game and was second in points per game. He earned
All-ECAC second team honors following his sophomore and junior
seasons and was the 2005 ECAC Rookie of the Year.
Veltman finished his career with 109 goals and 53 assists for 162
points. He holds the Hobart Division I records for career goals and
points and ranks 15th on both all-time lists.
Veltman is the 200th Hobart All-American and just the sixth to win
the honor at the Division I level, joining Jamie Breslin '01
(2000), Greg McCarthy '05 (2004 & 2005), Fred Pawlikowski '98
(1998), Nathan Roost '98 (1997), and Mike Sweeney '96 (1996). In
all, Statesmen have earned 250 All-America awards.
The Statesmen were 8-6 this season and tied for third place in the
ECAC with a 4-3 record. The four ECAC wins equal Hobart's win total
in its first three seasons in the league combined.
